Job Description

Substitute teachers are responsible for assisting students to pursue his or her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the regular teacher.

Major Responsibilities and Functions

• • Report to the Building Principal or School Secretary upon arrival at the school building.
  • Review with the Principal and/or Assistant Principal all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
  • Maintain as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
  • Teach the lesson outlined and described in the plans prepared by the absent teacher.

 

Job Qualifications

1. Holds a valid New York State Teacher Certification or a Bachelors Degree.

2. Complete all required workshops: 

• Workshop - Child Abuse Identification
• Workshop - School Violence Intervention and Prevention
• Workshop - Dignity For All Students Act

3. NYS Fingerprinting
